A Little About Sophie

It's hard to know where to start telling you about our little ball of energy.  She keeps us busy and running right up until bed time.  She is usually still bouncing off the walls while we try to read stories and sing songs before bed.  She loves to have us read to her, even though she does know how to read. She has become quite the little reader. Her favorite books are the Berenstein Bears and Little Critter. She has recently started reading small chapter books and some of our favorites are Katie Woo books. She loves to play with her princess dolls, and her favorite princess is Ariel.  In February we were able to go to Disneyland and Sophie got to meet many of the princesses including Ariel.

Sophie loves to play outside, in the water, and with dirt. This year she got to go the beach for the fisrt time and see the ocean. She loved playing in the water and sand!  She loves playing in any body of water; a stream, a lake, the splash pad or running through the sprinklers. During the summer she loves to go to the pool. She has been taking swimming lessons and has become quite the little swimmer. Last summer she decided that she wanted to try jumping off the low dive, which made Mommy a little nervous, but she did great! By the end of the summer, Sophie was jumping off the high dive too. She loves riding her bike, and last summer she learned how to ride a two wheeler. She enjoys blowing bubbles, using her sidewalk chalk, and riding her scooter. During the winter, she loves to play in the snow when it's not too cold.  She loves to help her daddy shovel the driveway with her little snow shovel. When the snow is just right, we like to build a snowman and have a snowball fight.

When we are hanging out inside she likes to play on the iPad, watch Netflix, cook and play with friends. She got a kids kitchen set for Christmas along with a chef's hat and coat and now she loves trying to "cook" by herself. She recently made cupcakes from a box all by herself, with Mommy's supervision. They turned out really yummy! She likes playing games, and her daddy has taught her quite a few. Some of her favorites are Kinder Bunnies, Sleeping Queens, Chicken Cha Cha Cha and Old Maid. She loves to draw and paint and she is very good at creating things. Sophie has always preferred drawing over coloring, and she has become quite the little artist. She loves learning about everything; planets, animals, the ocean, bees, sharks, storms, science and pretty much anything.

Sophie wants to be a big sister in the worst way. With Sophie starting Kindergarten last year, Tara decided to take up daycare a few days a week to keep herself busy. She watches a baby boy named Glenn, and it has been so much fun having him in our home. Sophie absolutely adores him and he thinks the world of her. He gets the biggest smile on his face every time Sophie walks in the room. She is such a good helper and loves to play with him. It has been good for her to have him around, I think it helps her feel like a big sister. She loves being a little mommy, whether it's with Glenn or her doll Peach, she loves taking care of little people.

Sophie says some funny things. One day we were driving past the state capital building and I pointed it out to her and told her "it's the capital building".  She then says to me, "Mommy, I want to see the lower case building". It was so cute, it made me laugh.  It is exhausting to watch her climb, jump, and roll.  She loves her gymnastics class and is learning so much there.  She is constantly practicing her head stands and hand stands.  I think she spends half the day upside down.  Now she just needs a sibling so she has a playmate at home.
